Chapter 99.1 – Exploring the Underground

At nightfall, the mole people became active.

Shi Yuan was in the “lair” and watched the mole people running around.

Mole people were also humans.

He could carry out the ‘human observation plan’ again.

Adjutant Bing returned to the aircraft to stay with Douglas.
He contacted Lu Tinghan: “General, do you want to stay in the ‘Lair’ today?” He hesitated for a moment and lowered his voice, “It’s safer if you come back.”

Vigilance was indispensable.

They emotionally trust Di Wen and others, but they must not lower their vigilance.

Lu Tinghan glanced back.

Chi Yongge was squatting in front of a mole man, drawing blood for him.
He was busy all night, collecting a lot of information, such as the blood, saliva, and hair of the mole people.
On the one hand, he had never been in contact with the infected group of the Gamma Abyss, and he wanted to send the data back to the Alliance.
On the other hand, he really wanted to help this group of people, hoping to be useful.
Time was limited, he was in a hurry and was eager to split himself into three people.

Di Wen’s daughter, Dorothy, had been following Chi Yongge.

She asked a lot of questions, about the Alliance, about infections, about inhibitors…

She made up her mind to give it a try.

Lu Tinghan and Adjutant Bing said, “Dr.
Chi should want to stay, we’ll stay here with him.
Moreover,” He looked to the side again, Shi Yuan was studying a black tunnel, with a question mark bent out of his tail, “He is not the only one who wants to stay.”

Adjutant Bing: “Copy that.”

Lu Tinghan hung up the communication, Shi Yuan was still looking at the tunnel.

He was very curious about this well-connected structure.
A large number of mole people had just gotten inside – it was unknown whether it was the deformity or their young age, but they were distinctly thin and scrawny.

Shi Yuan was working hard to figure out where this narrow tunnel led.

Lu Tinghan stood behind him and asked, “Do you want to get in and take a look?”

“No,” Shi Yuan said, “I’ll get stuck inside.”

“You won’t.” Lu Tinghan encouraged him, “They all got in so flexibly, how could you get stuck?” He stretched out his hand and shook in front of the tunnel, “It’s windy, this tunnel is not long, maybe you can know where it leads at a glance.”

Shi Yuan was torn.

He obviously had never heard of the saying “curiosity killed the cat” and had forgotten that when Lu Tinghan showed this expression, it was definitely not a good thing.

“Okay,” he said, “Then I’ll try, just take a look.”

He took Lu Tinghan’s flashlight, leaned his upper body in, and looked hard.—

Then he got stuck.

Shi Yuan: ?

Shi Yuan: ? ? !

He heard Lu Tinghan’s low-quality low laugh.

Shi Yuan struggled and twisted hard, his tail flicked, but he still couldn’t get out.
After a long time, Lu Tinghan grabbed his tail and pulled him out with force.

Shi Yuan was dragged out, and was stunned for a few seconds: “You lied to me again! I said I would be stuck!”

Lu Tinghan: “No, I didn’t expect it.”

Shi Yuan: “Do you think I will believe it?”

Lu Tinghan’s face remained unchanged: “It’s true.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“Really.”

Shi Yuan looked at Lu Tinghan suspiciously.
As before, he didn’t see anything, and believed in his human: “Well, you can’t encourage me in the future, I’m not that flexible.”

In the end, Shi Yuan still didn’t know where the mole people had gone.

He also wanted to find other mole people to play with.

He was afraid of humans, but perhaps the mole people were more like monsters, making him no longer timid.

——He was not afraid anymore, but the mole people were afraid of him.

Shi Yuan squatted in front of a group of mole people and asked, “Where are you going?”

Mole people: !

They ran away at the speed of light.

Shi Yuan caught a little mole man who was alone, slowly wagged the tip of his tail to show his kindness, and said, “Hello, my name is Shi Yuan, how about you?”

Little mole man: !!

She was so frightened that she burst into tears, and crawled away crying.

Shi Yuan found another big mole man.
The man was blocking the front of the tunnel like a small mountain, grasping a piece of bark and gnawing on it.

Shi Yuan rushed to him: “Hello, is there anything interesting here?”

Big mole man: “…”

With a shake of his hand, the bark came out of his hand and hit Shi Yuan’s head.

Shi Yuan: “Ah!”

He received a sudden blow, and the devil’s horn pierced the bark of the tree.
Before he could say anything, he looked up and saw that the huge body slowly collapsed, his mouth opened, and a white soul seemed to float out.

Lu Tinghan quickly took Shi Yuan away.

The other mole people were relieved and looked at Lu Tinghan with eyes full of gratitude.

Shi Yuan was frustrated: “They all don’t like me, just like those monsters.”

“They just don’t understand you,” Lu Tinghan said.

“Oh,” Shi Yuan’s tail hung down.

Lu Tinghan asked him, “Where do you want to go? I will go with you.”

Shi Yuan’s eyes lit up immediately: “I heard Morgan say that there are still some interesting places in the ’Lair’.”

“Then let’s go and have a look,” Lu Tinghan said.

Shi Yuan became happy.

They walked through the spacious tunnel, shining with the faint flashlight light.

They found Gerald’s study room, which had a few homemade wooden bookshelves standing crookedly, full of old books, and a small wooden table with pen and paper written in Empire letters that they could not understand, illustrated with black moles; they found an underground plantation, in the wet and dark soil, there were white and brown mushrooms, a handful of them were born together, long and short, vibrant, like a small mushroom kingdom; they found several “classrooms”, and different books were piled on the table made of tree roots, and there were a few mole people trying to practice pronunciation, and when they saw Shi Yuan, they ran away.

They also saw a position similar to a sentry post, with mole people standing guard and guarding.

Shi Yuan said: “They are so amazing, there are so many different places, like a city.”

“It’s more like a small village than a city,” Lu Tinghan hugged him and said.

“What is the village like?”

“The residential area is smaller than the city, there are not so many high-rise buildings, and it is much more spacious,” Lu Tinghan replied.

“Have you seen a village?”

“No.
The people in the village ran to the city very early.”

“Then how did you know?”

Lu Tinghan: “I saw it in the documentary.”

“Well, I haven’t seen it.
There is a scene in “The Martyr” that took place in the village… However, we didn’t have such a good stage set.” Shi Yuan thought for a while, “Will this ‘lair’ appear in documentaries in the future?”

Lu Tinghan smiled: “Maybe.”

“What about the cities of the Alliance?” Shi Yuan asked again, “Gleaning City, Fengyang City, and the main city.”

Lu Tinghan: “Maybe they will, too.”

“That’s good,” Shi Yuan also smiled, “They will all see our story.”
