Chapter 8: God's Favor

 “The Great Lord of Ashes…”

Aina stared at the Lord of Ashes blankly and did not move her gaze away.
After undergoing the transformation of Divine Surgery, she could now withstand the mental shock.

Shen Yi found many cultists had fainted, and inevitably, he felt a little strange.

'Would those cultists faint if I just blame them a little?'

He felt that something was wrong.
But after thinking about it for a long time, he could not find the reason.
He knew that punishing the cultists of the sect was not the end.

What he had to do at the end was to help that innocent little girl.

Once again, he emulated the harsh tone of voice.

“She must live on, carry on what I have promised her, and you must not offend her anymore.”

With that, he raised his hand gently, and the white flame in his palm turned into a monstrous dragon, almost half the size of a villa.
He knew very well that it had no lethality.
This was just a warning and a threat, but what the priest saw was completely different.

Before the priest could respond to this, a horrible outcome was implanted in his mind.

The whole Beland was burning in the pitch-black night, and countless people stood on the top of the tall building, waving their hands savagely and shouting desperately.

One by one, people leap from the roof into endless flames and become charred corpses like mountains.

The black flames continued to burn, seemingly without end.
It was not until dawn, the cry of despair gradually ceased.
The black flames faded away, leaving only pale embers in the city.

The senior priest's mind was boiling, and he could not get the terrifying vision out of his mind.

With no delay, he knelt on the ground, his head pressed against the floor, not even daring to lift it at all.

“Yes, Infinite ‌disasters,‌ ‌the‌ ‌source‌ ‌of‌ ‌destruction, the Lord of Ashes who annihilated the stars.
I, your humble servant, will obey your oracle.”

He could only express his humbleness and beg for his life from the terrible gods.

As for other things: whether the gift of God, or the unique feature of the little girl, or the sudden change in the god, he did not dare think about anything else at this moment.

In the depths of his heart, only the most primitive emotions remain- Fear.

Time was up for summoning.

“It's almost time to go back.”

As a dense gray mist rose, he let out a long sigh of relief.
The cultists were timider than he thought.
He just slightly showed his flame, which made them fall to the ground with freight.

Shen Yi glanced at the little girl.
They both looked at each other.
She was protected by 'God.' So, she shouldn't be persecuted in the church.

Before leaving the villa, Shen Yi deliberately made another oracle.

“I will return to the world, and if you have nothing to do recently, then don't make a sacrifice.”

Shen Yi would likely reveal his true identity if he was summoned more frequently.
Since they were still afraid now, he ordered as the Lord of Ashes.

  'I'm doing fine…
Don't call me anymore!'

The high priest suddenly felt the pressure on his body lighten and knew that the Lord of Ashes had left.
Sure enough, the villa returned to its original state.
The candles that had been extinguished were rekindled one by one, and the sound of rain from outside returned.

The high priest lifted his head, his creased face already covered with sweat.
He slowly got up from the ground and looked around.

Dr.
Norn was kneeling not far away.
He had just awakened from a stupor.
He stayed like that for a while before he got up from the ground.
He asked in confusion, “Just now, what happened just now?”

The high priest was silent for a long time before saying in a deep voice, “Dr.
Norn, you are very fortunate you still kept your lowly pathetic remnants of sanity after facing the ancient gods directly.”

Norn was stunned for a moment before jumping up wildly.

“What's going on? I'm asking you what's going on here.
What's wrong with them? What the hell was that all about?”

Not everyone in this villa was as lucky as Norn.
Most of the believers were screaming and laughing crazily, a weird sight to behold.

The high priest's face was expressionless and indifferent.
It was difficult for ordinary people to maintain their sanity after confronting the gods.
Fortunately, not all the funders participated in this sacrifice.
But even if only a few upper-class people went crazy, it would be a big problem.

The high priest had a bit of a headache, and the investigators definitely had to get involved.
However, the good news was that they could prove that the Lord of the Ashes had arrived.

This would entice more upper-class people to join the Chaos and Embers Order.
For the sake of illusory, unreachable dreams and deep desires.

The high priest felt a little better when he thought of it.

“It looks like we're going to need a period of recuperation.
Well, I'm afraid it's going to be a long time.”

The high priest paused and then said, “We need to evacuate fast.
The movement just now was so great that the Investigators from the Anti-Magic Bureau would look for it as a bloodthirsty shark in the sea.”

Norn, already on the verge of collapse, obviously didn't want to follow what the high priest said, and he roared furiously, “You must give me an explanation!”

“Kneel.” The high priest gently pointed.
Dr.
Norn knelt on the ground uncontrollably.
He was horrified to find that he could not feel his body at all.

Only then did Dr.
Norn remember he was confronting one of Noland's evilest leaders, with a disaster (disaster grade) risk rating.
The danger level of “a crisis that may lead to the destruction of several towns.”

The high priest remained calm as he looked down at the kneeling mortal.

“Doctor, I want to tell you and everyone in the sect an important matter.”

  'About a girl.'

Aina stood idly.
All the surrounding madness seemed to have nothing to do with her.
She still hadn't recovered from the immense shock.
For her, everything just now was like a dream.

The plan succeeded, but it did not bring her the happiness of revenge.
Aina felt that her anger had dissipated and was no longer blocked.

'The rest of the children in the orphanage won't lose their future anymore.'

Tears swirled in her eyes, lingered, and fell drop by drop.

  'I'm so excited.'

She reached a new conclusion.

'In fact, the perception of the Order was all wrong.
The great Lord of Ashes was not an evil deity.
Although his appearance would cause disasters, it was only because the world could not bear his presence.
The Lord of Ashes was definitely not evil.'

The high priest understood this girl was, indeed, loved by the great Lord.
So, he immediately came to her side, took her hand, and brought her to Dr.
Norn.

Norn, kneeling on the ground, looked up at the girl with a subtle expression, bewildered and afraid.

The high priest said calmly, “She is loved by God.”

“From now on, everyone in the sect, every believer, will maintain their due respect when they see her.”

He turned his head to Aina and said in an elder's tone.

“From today onward, I will teach you personally.”

“You will have an important mission to turn the old world upside down and bring people into a new world for the great Lord of Ashes.”

Dr.
Norn naturally heard the oracle of the 'Lord of Ashes' before he left.
He lowered his head tremblingly and said nothing, feeling fearful.

Aina looked at the doctor on the ground and kept silent.
He treated her like an animal a few days ago, but now he's on his knees shaking with fear.

Something had changed.

“…” She did not speak, nor did she want to communicate with other people.
She didn't understand nor want to understand any of the great principles.
She knew that all these changes were because of the favor of the Lord of Ashes.
So she had to do something, too.

  “…I don't need your teaching.”

She shook off the high priest's hand, who staggered back two steps in disbelief.

The storm outside the house gradually ceased.
Soon, the night would be over, and dawn would come.

'It turned out that I really existed for the Lord of Ashes from the very beginning.'

She put her hands on her heart and made the realization that she would spend the rest of her life serving the great Lord of Ashes.
